Up for sale, a 2015 Gibson Memphis Figured 1963 ES-335TD Block VOS in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and CoA. A rare model produced in limited numbers at Gibson’s lauded and now shuttered Memphis, TN factory from 2015-17, this ES-335 features a bevy of golden age Gibson specs including an era-correct ‘63-’67 body shape and construction techniques, no-wire ABR-1 bridge with nylon saddles (included in case), small block inlay on the bound rosewood fretboard, pair of Memphis Historic Spec (MHS) PAF humbuckers, and a deeply figured ribbon maple body highlighted by a gloss Vintage Natural VOS nitro lacquer finish.
Weighing 7lbs 10oz, tonewoods include a deeply figured ribbon maple/poplar/maple body with a period-correct “window” centerblock and quartersawn spruce bracing, a mahogany neck, and a bound rosewood fretboard. The MHS handwound humbuckers deliver spongy low end, a complex, tailored midrange, and detailed highs, consistent with Gibson's PAF ("Patent Applied For") pickups, balancing exquisite clarity and rich growl with a slightly hotter bridge position and a sweet, smooth-sounding neck position humbucker that has great bloom and complex harmonic content. This Custom Shop 1963 ES-335 has been professionally set up here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
